BOIL-OFF GAS COMPRESSOR PACKAGES
API 619 / ISO 10440-1 Oil-Injected Screw Compressors for Propylene, LPG, and LNG Tank Farms — EPC-Ready Delivery with Full Vendor Data Book.
BOG SERVICE APPLICATIONS
Compressor package configurations by gas service and storage medium.
PROPYLENE TANK FARM
Compresses propylene BOG back to storage or process header. Typical motor range 250–630 kW. Reference: Satellite Petrochemical (450 kW, Wuhuan Engineering).
LPG / PROPANE TERMINAL
Handles propane/butane BOG with condensation risk management. Typical motor range 300–800 kW. Reference: Satellite Petrochemical LPG (630 kW, Wuhuan Engineering).
MULTI-GAS TERMINAL
Packages sized for mixed-service tank farms (propylene + propane). Operating cases, dew point margin, and ESD interface confirmed at datasheet freeze.
ETHYLENE / LNG BOG
Cryogenic service variant for ethylene or LNG tank farms. Low-temperature material selection (carbon steel down to −46°C or low-alloy where required).

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Common questions from EPC engineers and procurement teams about BOG compressor packages
What is a BOG compressor and when is it needed?
A boil-off gas compressor handles the gas that naturally evaporates from cryogenic liquefied gases (LNG, LPG, LEG, liquid nitrogen) during storage and transport. Without BOG compression, tank pressure rises to unsafe levels. BOG compressors re-compress this vapor for reliquefaction, fuel use, or pipeline injection — maintaining tank pressure control and preventing venting.
What types of BOG compressors do you offer?
We offer oil-injected screw type and oil-free reciprocating type BOG compressors, depending on the application. Screw types are preferred for medium-flow, continuous-duty service with simpler maintenance. Reciprocating types are used where oil-free gas is required or for very low flow rates. Both are available as complete skid-mounted packages.
What is the typical suction temperature and pressure for BOG service?
BOG from LNG storage typically enters at –130°C to –160°C and slightly above atmospheric pressure (1.01–1.15 bar abs). Our compressor packages include suction heaters to raise gas temperature to the compressor's operating range, and are designed for the thermal shock and cryogenic conditions inherent in BOG duty.
What certifications are required for BOG compressor packages?
For marine applications: classification society approval (DNV, BV, CCS, ABS, LR, NK, KR) including type approval for the compressor and hazardous area certification for electrical equipment. For onshore LNG terminals: ASME BPVC, PED 2014/68/EU, ATEX/IECEx, and compliance with EN 1473 or NFPA 59A as applicable.
Can your BOG compressor units be used on LNG carriers?
Yes. We supply marine-grade BOG compressor packages designed to classification society rules (DNV, CCS, BV, ABS). These include marine-rated electrical components, vibration-resistant mounting, corrosion-resistant materials, and full documentation packages for class approval. We have delivered units for LNG carriers built at major Chinese shipyards.
What is the typical lead time and what documentation is provided?
Standard marine BOG packages: 16–22 weeks including class approval. Onshore packages: 12–18 weeks. Documentation includes GA drawings, P&ID, data sheets, material test certificates (EN 10204 3.1/3.2), weld maps, NDE reports, hydrostatic test certificates, and operation/maintenance manuals.
