On August 22, 2026, Lmart arranged occupational-disease screening for production staff at Zhangjiagang No.2 People’s Hospital. The examination covered blood laboratory work, blood pressure, general internal medicine, neurology and ophthalmology.
Occupational screening is not a general check-up
A general check-up describes overall health. Occupational screening is aimed at the hazards of a specific post, and is set out in China’s Law on the Prevention and Control of Occupational Diseases. An employer whose staff are exposed to those hazards has to arrange examinations before a worker takes up the post, at intervals while the post is held, and when the worker leaves it; has to keep an occupational health record for each exposed worker; and has to act on abnormal findings rather than file them. The items on this year’s list — neurology and ophthalmology alongside blood work — follow the hazard categories usual for a welding and pressure-vessel shop.
What a buyer’s HSE questionnaire asks for
Supplier audits from EPC contractors, shipowners and industrial-gas companies work through a short list on this point: whether occupational health surveillance is in place, whether there is a record per exposed worker, who reviews abnormal results, and what changed in the workshop as a result. Lmart is ISO 45001 certified, and a screening day is one of the operating records underneath that certificate rather than a separate exercise.
What happens with the results
The hospital returns the results to the company, individual findings are followed up, and the records go into each worker’s occupational health file. Where a finding points at a working condition rather than an individual, the condition is what gets reviewed — extraction at the source, protective equipment, or the way the job is organised.
